Upps....... zweistellig .... 10 Jahre !!!!! Glückwunsch an alle "H"- Wurf Besitzer !!
Grüße aus Schwelm, dem kalten Ennepe-Ruhr-Kreis mit zur Zeit -6 Grad und der Tendenz nach "unten". Soweit geht es uns hier gut, Hanko hatte 2017 wieder sehr lange Probleme mit Hautausschlag und dem Ergebnis: Er hat eine ausgeprägte Milbenalergie (Futter, Haus, Decken..überall wo Milben ihr Unwesen treiben). Zur Zeit ist alles abgeheilt und er hat ein sehr schönes Fell. Ansonsten ist er
besonders in den letzten 12 Monaten sehr stark "gealtert" und für einen 10 Jahre alten Hund doch schon recht bedächtig.
Urlaub hat er an der Nordsee verbracht aber immer mit sehr viel Bedacht dem Wasser gegenüber. Pfoten nass bedeutet: es reicht, lieber wieder trocken laufen. Der Winter und die Kälte jetzt sind toll und am liebsten immer in den Garten und den Schnee genießen.
Wir hoffen es geht euch und den Vierbeinern gut und ihr hattet einen guten Start ins Jahr 2018.
Übrigens Start ins neue Jahr. Da fällt mir noch ein: Hanko ist extrem geräuschempfindlich geworden. Knallkörper eh schon immer, aber jetzt auch andere laute Geräusche in der weiteren Umgebung lassen ihn in die hinterste Ecke des Hauses schleichen. Unsere Tierärztin meinte bei empfindlichen Hunden könne sich dieses mit jedem Lebensjahr noch steigern. Silvester ist es ganz schlimm und wir würden am liebsten zum Nordpol auswandern.
Dieses nur mal so am Rande, vielleicht habt ihr dieses Erfahrung auch gemacht.

Passend dazu schick ich euch ein Foto von vorgestern von Annika - die hat sich Ally's Körbchen einverleibt und beweist, dass mit der Origami-Technik alle Akitapfoten reinpassen

With a photo of Hanko we want to say Happy Birthday to all of our H-puppies. They are 8 years now and will hopefully have many wondeful and especially healthy years together with their families.
Unfortunately, such pictures as this have become a rarity. Our proud Akita group at our dog school is getting old.
First, there are our unforgettable Cheyenne, Brünchen, Aaron, Bea and Aika, who have gone one after another over the rainbow bridge in recent years.
Secondly there are Jane, Akyo and Eishinyoo which already belong to the Akita seniors (12+) and coping with smaller hills - as here the Hutberg in Großharthau – has become increasingly difficult or is even not possible anymore.
We remember the many eventful experiences that we had with our Akitas. But we do not want to be sad, because it was a great time and it is so still.
May some nice days at Hupfsch wait for us and our doggies and who knows - maybe one or the other Akita puppy sooner or later will join us again.
Before the autumn holidays finally are over now, we want to show you some pictures of our fall vacation. We went on our trip to a mountain range in the Slovak part of the High Tatras.
The High Tatras are the highest range of the Carpathians. The mountains are up to 2,600 m. In the small village of Novy Smokovic we had booked a room in a small hotel, the Villa Dr. Szontagh. The interior design style was a bit old, probably from from the 1970s, but clean, nice and especially dog friendly.
On two days, we did extensive hiking tours. We did not climb the summits but the cable car station at 1700 meters above sea level in Tatranska Lomnica was a challenge. Jane has done very bravely in all tours. And "Krasni-Shadow" get a lot of attention by the locals again and again.
For the citizens of the GDR, the Tatra was formerly a popular tourist destination and many small hotels have probably still to make head of the situation that the East Germans do not come anymore. But we also saw: Many new houses and hotels are being built and when it snows soon, one will find numerous winter sports enthusiasts.
We liked the rustic nature, the clear mountain lakes, the roaring waterfalls, colourful forests and the majestic summits that always hide in dense fog and then suddenly majestically appeared.

At quite icy temperatures today, we went to Großdrebnitz once more where Katja from our dog school had prepared a nice hiking tour. In fact, this tour should be the continuation of our Christmas walk from December, 2013. A small group of about 15 doggies together with kith and kin walked across the autumnal woods, meadows and fields all around Großdrebnitz. For our welfare a barbecue was prepared on a resting place in the woods, where two grill masters had waited for us. At the end we had run about 7 kilometres.
