Gone from our homes, but never from our hearts

We are very sad to report that Doshi passed away on Friday March 17, 2011. He was deeply loved and the 7 years he had with Mario and Antje were very precious.

In memory of happy times a little video of Doshi and his brother Djun.

Flying Akitas

Akitas are said to have a number of outstanding properties. That one of these properties is also flying you can see here at Goya and Shadow. Their intention, however, is different: while Goya is trying to catch a mouse, Shadi is jumping after the ball to miss it . Whether Goya was successful, is not known.

Visit by Joshi

This weekend it finally happened: Tanja and Jan were on their way to a first visit to us this year with Joshiro and Lotta. Joshi had moved to his family in Hilden last August, and we have not seen him since then. And now, with 9 months, he presented himself as he is, in all his glory and beauty. From the little curly has become an imposing American Akita dog, that has already caught up in height with his dad Shadow. But Joshi seems to be even more impressive because of his fluffy and soft fur - for us he is the most beautiful long-coated Akita that we have ever seen.

But his character and temperament are just adorable: he is friendly, curious and open-minded. During games, he is incredibly stormy and quickly bumps Lotta to the side, but a good boy hears it once, when his mistress Tanya admonished him.

Jane and Shadow have completely forgotten their parental duties and sadly behaved rude to Joshi. Joshi, however, was unconcerned friendly to everybody. So our planned hike on the Lilienstein worked and Joshi could get to know a few more of his distant relatives.

Further details of our Lilienstein-hiking tour.

An ideal foot warmer

Since not long ago, Shadi has, if he's not out there playing the guard, chosen a new favourite place, directly under Olaf's desk. Whether someone works on a computer or not, the main thing it's nice and dark and cosy, almost like in a cave. Actually, for an adult American Akita male like Shadow much too close, but this way he gives the ideal foot warmer to us.

Happy Birthday to all our H-litter-Akitas

Just in time for the 3rd birthday we received birthday greetings today from Hanko’s owners, and we want to take this opportunity to pass these wishes along. There's also a Hanko-description - an American Akita just as it appears in the book with all its advantages and disadvantages.
And Hiras family as well joins the birthday wishes with words and pictures. Enjoy watching.

Hello Michael, hello Olaf ...
like every year the best birthday wishes from Schwelm to you and all 3-year H-litter-Akitas and their owners.
One would think, finally grown up, but at least in Hanko we do not feel as if he understands this.
Playful as ever, family-friendly as ever, dominate over other dogs more than ever and a great hunter like a cat.
But a fine fellow whom you must take as he is.We have a lot of fun with him, but he also makes a lot of stress for a
walk. Off leash only in exceptional cases and for specific games. A squirrel and 3 voles are the result for have been hunting in January. Other males will be best out of the way, no male is accepted, neither a small Pinscher nor a huge Schnauzer.
Otherwise everything is good, no special news. We regularly read the latest reports and pictures on your website and
have lots of enjoyment. Maybe we are going to visit you in the summer time for a day or two.. Until then, good luck and a lot of "greetings" to your Akitas.
Ute and Werner

Hello after Ohorn!

Somewhat belatedly, the warmest congratulations to the H-litter puppies, (the now "slightly" larger ones) and their owners!
Hira is magnificent. For birthday presents, there were 2 new harnesses and homemade dog biscuits. Guess what was more interesting.
Her hunting instinct is very strong, that means looking far ahead what is still very possible in the plains. Other dogs are fixed and differentiated by friend and foe. The gender does not play any role. Frolicking is what counts.

Greetings from Pasewalk!

New Years Day Walk 2011

We are going to start the new year with a photo of our New Year's Day walk around Biehla. Not that stressful like our Christmas walk cause we did not have to step through deep snow. We would like to wish you and your doggies all the best for 2011, especially happiness and health.
