Shadow romping around in our garden.
Our Chey is now 13 years old and in quiet happiness we enjoy that our good old girl is still with us and enjoys life.
Osteoarthritis is in her old bones and all movements can be slow and cumbersome, but she still would like to join us on our walks and is wagging her tail at the door when we want to leave. We must just only double our time schedule and always have to wait until she comes running.
Otherwise Cheyenne sleeps most of the day, and every now and then Shadi comes and lovingly licks over her eyes.
Three cheers for our birhday girl!
The last holiday in Saxony appeared in his golden autumn side. What a luck, a hiking tour of our dog school was scheduled for that day by the Moritzburg pond areas. Eichiro’s owner Christoph had chosen the route and made all preparations. The Moritzburg "Radlereck" had cooked for us delicious goulash. Then it was on in the Moritzburg Wildlife Park. Now leash was announced for our doggies, but being so close to deer, wild pigs and foxes was a really new experience for most of our doggies. And they were surprisingly quiet, even the sight of their ancestors awoke at best curious looks on both sides. In general Shadow was much more interested in Ginkou to come as close as possible, because she was in the final stages of her heat. The return route took us past the hunting lodge of Augustus the Strong, through forests, across fields passing flying kites and model aircraft to our meeting place. In the end we managed a route of about 15 km and man and dog were exhausted and glad being back at the cars. All in all it was a great autumn hike.
Today our dear chap is two years old. Time has flown since he has been a puppy running through the house and looking for some new monkey business. He has retained his stormy and lively temperament and still shows it in certain situations. And he still judges as one of his major tasks to guard our garden. However, we had to increase the height of our
garden fence by some centimetres in this summer, after he was able to climb over it just to look what is going on in our neighbourhood.
Especially, in the house Shadi has become a delightfully quiet and well-balanced companion who has completely appeared to us. He still loves to cuddle a lot with all family members.
We are glad, in any case to have him in our family. Three cheers for our Shadi.
24th September - by night
The summer is on his way and now gives place for the autumn which provides with his akita-friendly temperatures for the fact that our dogs go again more joyfully to the dog school. For this reason we would like to show you a few impressions of our dog school which has to offer something not only during the day.
And thus it was that some dog friends appeared to the yearly night practise in September and this time a small competition was on. Two dog leaders with their dogs formed a team and finished a 4-course-competition in the disciplines obedience, slalom, steeplechase and hurdle-race. It was not at all so simple for our dogs to pass these challenges as quickly as possible and perfectly, as they are not used to do exercises at night in floodlight- and in this time they usually dream blessedly in their dog beds. Nevertheless, all doggies gave their best and showed to their masters how well one can count on them if it depends
on it.
And what should we say to you, Jane managed it together with her team colleague shepherd dog Emma to get on the first place. Well,if this is no reason to be proud
25th September - by day
Being in good mood we went on taking a few photos of our Saturday afternoon dogs school education. And as you can see in the pictures, today a nice group of Akitas gathered again. In the training we did different exercises: obedience and a bit agility. Not to forget, of course, the usual walk after the coffee break. A lot of fun with looking at our small gallery of our dog school during day and night.
And at the end one more tip for all hiking-and Akita-friends:
For the 17th October our Akita group plans a walking tour around the Moritzburger ponds passing a wildlive-park and a wolf enclosure. Whoever would like to join us during this day is welcome with pleasure, American Akitas in particular.
Today we had one of those wonderful autumn days that we and our dogs as well really enjoy. Clear air, bright colours and some kids tried to fly their kites on the Schleißberg. By the way we took these current nice pics of our three Akitas
