Altogether 25 dog friends of our dog school met in Dürrröhrsdorf/ Dittersbach in the morning of Easter Monday for a longer walk through the Saxon Switzerland.
We began our tour walking through the Lieblingstal and then went up to the Schöne Höhe.
The Belvedere on the Schöne Höhe hill, a tower decorated with frescoes after works of Johann Wolfgang Goethe. Founded by Johann Gottlob von Quandt, it includes a local history exhibition. We were lucky to have our own guided tour while our dogs patiently waited outside.
Later on we continued our way passing villages like Elbersdorf, Porschendorf, Liebethal and Wünschendorf. Now and then there were some little stops for Bockwurst and beer.
Altogether we went 14 kilometres and we as well as our dogis were happy to be back again at our car in the lat. afternoon. All in all it was a good Easter tour. And here there are some photos.

On March 20th there was the big day: we presented Shadow and Gina on a show for the first time.
Both of them showed a calm and confident behaviour in the ring and got excellent 1st. Furthermore we got the breeding license for Shadow and Gina.
And finally Shadow was 2nd BEST IN SHOW. All in all it was a successful day for our Akitas and us as well.

Today we got some happy-birthday-wishes from Ute and Werner. They own Hanko, one of the males of our H-litter, and they are more than happy with their now two-year old American Akita.

American Akitas should be obedience trained by their owner. A good obedience class, perhaps beginning with puppy kindergarten, will guarantee you a firm bond with your Akita and a well behaved dog. Remember, Akitas are extremely intelligent and tend to get bored easily. They learn quickly, so short training periods are suggested. This keeps the dog from becoming bored. Akitas are also very stubborn and when the dog thinks it is a waste of time to "sit" or "stay" one more time, he will simply walk away. So obedience training requires patience.
For almost 10 years we have been regularly attending our local obedience school in Großharthau. Meanwhile there has grown a nice small group of 11 Akitas and American Akitas and their owners, but of course there are other breeds, too. It’s not just a MUST DO for us to go there, we also really enjoy these visits, as we meet friends, learn something new and work with our dogs.
Here we want to show you some impressions of today’s afternoon at our dog school.

We are really fed up with these masses of snow which were coming again and again during the last weeks. But not our Akitas. They are so enthusiastic about that snow as you can see in the pictures which we took this afternoon when walking through the wood near Großhartau.

Six years gone by,
How time has flown,
We can't believe
how Jane's grown!
She's such a joy
and so much fun,
Oh Jane, you're
the only ONE.
